If you grew up during the 1980s and 1990s, it's likely you know of the Sylvanian Families. These little animal figurines were released in 1985, and gained popularity not just in Japan but across the globe. A special exhibition taking place at the Ehime Prefectural Museum of History and Culture will explore the history of the Sylvanian Families, with more than 1,000 types of dolls, houses, and furniture on display.
Adult admission to the event is priced at 1000 yen.
Getting there
The Ehime Prefectural Museum of History and Culture can be accessed in under 10 minutes by bus from the JR Unomachi Station, served by the Yosan Line. There is a specific bus bound for the museum with a dedicated stop.
For those who opt to drive, the museum is about 50 minutes from the Matsuyama IC on the Matsuyama Expressway. On site parking is available for just over 150 vehicles.
