If you're in Niigata and looking for a park that really epitomizes seasonal beauty, then Yukyuzan Park is well worth a visit. The park is perhaps best known as one of the prefecture's top sakura viewing spots, and the grounds are home to an annual festival celebrating the 2500 (give or take!) cherry blossom trees in all their glory. It doesn't disappoint in other seasons either, with the autumn months also drawing in plenty of visitors from the local area.

Aside from the bounty of natural beauty to enjoy, the park has plenty of other attractions that make it a great place to check out. There is also a local history museum, a swimming pool, baseball field, an iris garden, and a traditional Japanese garden to enjoy when you visit.

Parents looking for a way for their children to burn off some energy will also be pleased to know that there is plenty of open space for running around, and various types of playground equipment including large slides, climbing frames, and swings.

Getting there

Via Public Transport:

Yukyuzan Park is located approximately 15 minutes via public bus bound for Yukyuzan from JR Nagaoka Station's East Exit. Buses typically depart every 20 to 30 minutes.

Via Private Vehicle:

For those who opt to drive, the park is approximately 30 minutes by car from the Nagaoka Station area, or around 30 minutes from the Nagaoka Interchange on the Kan Etsu Expressway. On-site parking is available for up to 800 vehicles.
