I'm an American who has been in Japan for nearly 20 years. I enjoy travelling, writing, cooking, eating, and exploring new places and activities. I first came to Japan in 1992 as an exchange student in Japanese language at Fukuoka University; I returned to the U.S. to continue my graduate studies, but knew I had to get back to Japan. I returned, this time to Okayama, in 1995 and have been here ever since. In my 20 years in Japan, I have seen, experienced, learned, and tasted so many different things that I feel that my life here is exciting. Honestly, I learn something new every day, whether it be a new "kanji", word in Japanese, recipe, or about the history and culture of Japan.
I also have a cafe blog; please take a look if you are interested. Here is the link: http://amiyata.wordpress.com/
In addition, I also do some freelance translating. If you are interested in contacting me about translating work, please see my blogpage for information: http://amacielmiyata.wordpress.com/
I'm excited to be able to publish on JapanTourist, and I hope you enjoy my articles and photos.
