teamLab's hugely popular digital art museum in Tokyo has once again claimed one of the travel industry's most coveted honors. teamLab Planets TOKYO DMM was named Asia's Leading Tourist Attraction 2025 at the World Travel Awards, marking the second time the immersive museum has taken home the title following its previous win in 2023. Often described as the "Oscars of the travel industry," the awards are voted on by both tourism professionals and consumers from more than 200 countries.

The accolade places teamLab Planets in some very elite company. In the Asia category, it was selected ahead of world-famous landmarks such as the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal, and the Angkor temple complex. Since opening in Toyosu in 2018, the museum has welcomed more than 10 million visitors from over 211 countries and regions. Around half of those visitors have been international travelers, with particularly strong interest from the United States, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Germany. Surveys also show that for many visitors, teamLab Planets is now a key reason for choosing Tokyo as part of their Japan travel plans.

Importantly, its popularity has remained consistently high even as tourism patterns shift. In 2025, the facility was also ranked number one for the third consecutive year in the Tokyo edition of the inbound tourist rankings compiled by Visit Japan Lab, based on thousands of Google Maps reviews from domestic and international visitors. Recent expansions, including new forest-themed installations, outdoor art works, and art-integrated dining spaces such as vegan ramen and tea experiences, have helped keep the attraction fresh for repeat visitors.

With its second World Travel Award now secured and visitor numbers continuing to grow, teamLab Planets has established itself as one of Asia's most talked-about attractions. As Japan's inbound tourism continues to rebound and diversify, the Toyosu-based museum remains an example of how contemporary art has become a central part of the country's global travel appeal.
