There are six pleasant parks alongside Yokohama Bay. Aka-renga Park is a park that surrounds the Red Brick Warehouses that were built between 1911 and 1913. Those warehouses were facilities belonging to Yokohama Customs until 1989. Now they have been completely restored as a popular and cool shopping mall. The mall consists of a concert hall, art gallery, restaurants, and lots of nice shops. And in the park, people come together to enjoy seasonal events such as dance performances, concerts, flea markets, motor shows, an Oktoberfest, and so on. An index of this series is here.
Yokohama's Aka-renga Park
Yokohama Bay Area Parks 4

Yokohama is an interesting combination of old and new.

This park is very close to the Minato-mirai skyline.

This row of red brick warehouses is now a popular shopping mall.

The park is behind the warehouse mall.

And very close to the sea.

In face, it borders a number of piers and jetties.

The red brick is really quite elegant.

Most of the warehouses were built about 100 years ago.

What a great place to sit, have lunch and enjoy the view!

Flowers, grass and skycrapers!

Early morning and dusk and both quite beautiful.

A beautiful combination of red and blue.
