A special event taking place at Nara's Yamato Bunkakan focuses on the allure of letters and the beauty of calligraphy. There's no doubt that even in the modern era, letters are still a way of communicating thoughts, ideas, and messages - or even for posterity's sake. When it comes to the way that letters are written, calligraphy has been appreciated as an artform for centuries. The exhibition will focus on the works of Nobutada Konoe (1565 – 1614), Hon'ami Koetsu (1558 - 1637), and Shokado Shojo (1584 - 1639), a trio of revered calligraphers who were referred to as the "Three brushes of the Kan'ei period".
