Yayoi Kusama's Monochrome 2021

Midway Between Mystery and Symbol

Lieu: Yayoi Kusama Museum Date: Apr 29th - Dec 26th 2021

Monochrome art has been a popular form of expression throughout the ages, and Japan has been home to numerous historic monochromatic ink wash painters such as Hasegawa Tōhaku, Sesshū Tōyō, and Tenshō Shūbun to name just a few. Many modern works by Yayoi Kusama also showcase the simplistic beauty of single color or two-color creations, and a special exhibition at the Yayoi Kusama Museum will explore these.

There will be a variety of Kusama's monochrome works from her early years to the present, including the likes of Desire of Death (1975-1976), Self-portrait (1995), and A Dream I Dreamed Yesterday (2006).

Adult admission to the event is priced at 1100 yen, and advance reservations are required. Please visit the official museum website for details on how to book your slot.
