Abstraction 2023

The Awakening and Development of Abstract Paintings

Lieu: Artizon Museum Date: Jun 3rd - Aug 20th 2023

From the latter part of the 19th century until the outbreak of World War I, France enjoyed a period of peace and prosperity during the Belle Epoque era. This relaxed timeframe spawned the emergence of new artforms like Fauvism and Cubism (seen as partial abstraction), followed on by true abstract art.

An upcoming exhibition at Tokyo's Artizon Museum will explore the periods before and after the dawn of abstract painting, covering how it developed and the ways the style has been passed on to new generations.

Admission to the event is priced at 2,000 yen for adults. University students who present a student ID and those aged below junior high school age receive free admission.
